Overview of the Programme
March of the Living UK will travel to Poland for five days from Sunday 16th April to Thursday 20th April 2023. The London Business School attendees will all be in the same group. Each group will have an educator and a bus leader. We hope to be joined by Survivors who will accompany the buses.

Booking
The booking is on a first come first serve basis. There are no LBS allocated spots and because we receive a hefty subsidy for each attendee, £1600, the spots might be filled out fast.
The booking is through the march of the living UK site.
After registration on Campus Groups, you will receive an email to finalize your registration on march of the living UK site

the total cost is £299 and the deposit to insure your spot is £200.
Once they receive the form you fill out on their site and the deposit they will review your application and confirm your place via email.

Before booking, please ensure that you have read through the trip details to understand that this can be a physically and emotionally challenging experience. The daily program will be intense with early starts, late finishes, long bus journeys and hours spent walking and standing outdoors.

£200 non-refundable deposit to confirm booking plus a further £99 for the cost of the trip is required to fully process your application. The total balance is due on 31st January 2023 and no monies will be refunded for cancellations made after this date. Please note the remaining cost of the Trip (£1600) is awarded to you as a generous subsidy.

Information about the Trip
Flights
Flights are booked by March of the Living UK. Included in the trip price are flights from London, Birmingham, Manchester and Scotland. It is the participants responsibility to meet at the UK airports.

Insurance
All participants must have their own health & travel insurance including cover for Covid – 19.
Hotels
In Poland we stay in 4* hotels, 3 nights in Krakow and 1 night in Lublin. All LBS students will be staying in the same hotel

Room sharing
Over your stay in Poland you will be grouped in rooms with one or two others in your group. If you did not specify who you wished to room share with we have paired you with another person or persons. Naturally we have tried to do this based on age and bus but sometimes this has not been possible.

Food
All food is kosher on this trip and is shipped from Israel. Breakfast & Dinner are in the hotel and lunch will be packed lunchboxes. If you have any dietary issues we recommend that you bring some of your own food especially for vegans, and those with more specific requirements. Vegetarian & Vegan options are available but often limited in variety.

Weather
Poland in April can be mild but rain is also common. We will try to send forecasts out a few days prior to departure.

Clothing
Be prepared for all weather eventualities. There is no laundry so make sure you account for wet and muddy conditions. We suggest 2 pairs of comfortable walking shoes (not Uggs and not nice sneakers), Jeans, sweatshirts, fleece’s are all essential. We will be visiting cemeteries, Synagogues and sights of mass murder, if you would like to you can bring a kippa (head covering) with you.

Money
The local currency is Polish Zloty and is approximately 5.4 to the pound. Everything on this trip is paid for so the only cash you will need is the equivalent of £10 for tips and “pocket money”. This may be needed to cover a drink or snack while travelling.

Your preparation for the trip
Each bus will have a preparation session which we would encourage you to join.
This is the opportunity for you to meet others in the group, learn about what to expect from your trip, more information on the trip itself and meet some of your bus leaders and educators.

Foreign Travel Advice
You will need to ensure you comply with all foreign travel advice to enter Poland and on return to the UK. Advice can be found here on the government website – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/poland. We will update you with the travel guidance and testing requirements at the beginning of April 2023. Please note all costs associated with testing requirements will be at the expense of the participant.

Family history research
In preparation for your trip we suggest you do some research in to your own family background, this will make the trip more personal for you. Please share this information with your educators so they can guide you further.

Reading list
Please find at the end of this information pack a suggested reading list to help you best prepare for your trip to Poland.

Security
Each bus has its own security guard, please do make sure you follow their instructions.

Evening Sessions
At the end of each day, each group will have the opportunity to discuss the events of the day. This is a useful tool to reflect on each day, learn others perspectives and feel supported on what may or may not be for you a challenging experience.
