Without a doubt, the Silicon Valley trek was an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit and hear from companies and people that are making a huge impact on the world. We had the opportunity to visit companies such as Google, LinkedIn, KPCB, Zynga and Tesla Motors and got to hear some very interesting things.

For example, the Google CFO told us that there was “science behind the madness” regarding their investment / acquisition strategy and that working at Google was a “real delight”. A partner at the VC firm August Capital, told us how he used to hang out with Bill and Steve from Microsoft at their house and how he ended up being one of the first investors into the company when it was valued at just $20M.

Beyond the stories and the behind-the-scenes look at these companies, the thing that impressed me most was the general positive vibe regarding entrepreneurship in the community and the feeling that if you stayed in Silicon Valley long enough you would definitely start a company! And as a lawyer at WSGR (the firm that handles 25% of all VC deals in the US) told us – if you have a good idea then anyone can raise money right now!

Overall, I would highly recommend the trek to anyone interested in the entrepreneurship space or for people who are might be interested in working in the valley. There was more than one company, who we visited, that had roles still open for interns and full-time hires.

And for those who do go, remember – never park your car in a spot reserved for Lady Gaga at Google…you can ask one of the organizers about the consequences J
