AI 101: Understand | AI Workshop Series

You pay for AI. You use maybe 1% of it.

When nearly 100 of you answered our AI survey this month, 77% said you pay for an AI tool, and 65% said you've never built anything with one. The most common blocker wasn't time or cost. It was too many tools and too many words nobody explains.

AI 101 is where that changes. In two hours we go from the words everyone uses to building something of your own, live in the room. No experience needed and no question too basic.

What we'll cover:

1. The words that matter: apps vs websites, the cloud, servers, domains, and what actually happens when something "goes live"
2. What AI is and isn't: how ChatGPT and Claude come up with an answer, and why they sometimes make things up
3. LLMs, agents and workflows, in plain English
4. A simple map of the tools, so you know which one is for what and can stop trying them all
5. How to get good answers, and how to check them

You'll walk out with:

1. Your own one-page personal website, built with AI during the session
2. A glossary of some of the words that unlock the rest of the series
3. The prompts we used, so you can keep going on your own

This is for you if:

1. You haven't really used ChatGPT or Claude yet
2. You use AI every day but don't know what's going on behind it
3. You picked 201 in the survey but half the terms were fuzzy. This is the right room.

Bring:

1. A laptop (a personal one works best, since work laptops often block things)
2. An LLM account (Claude or ChatGPT)

Helpers from the club will be in the room for setup and anyone who gets stuck.
