Your Africa Club is delighted to invite you to the third instalment of the Africa Club Speaker Series. We will be hosting distinguished Venture Capital investors who will be discussing Venture Capital on the African continent. The panel includes the following speakers:

Dr Omobola Johnson is Senior Partner of TLcom Capital, a venture capital firm with over US$300mn under management investing in technology companies in sub-saharan Africa.
Before joining TLcom, Omobola was Minister of Communication Technology in Nigeria. Prior to serving in the Nigerian government, she gained over 25 years of consulting experience with Accenture including 5 years as Country Managing Director.
Omobola serves on the Board of the World Wide Web Foundation. She has a Doctorate in Business Administration from the School of Management of Cranfield University. She is the recipient of the Distinguished Alumna award from Cranfield University and the Lagos Business School.

Fabian Whate is Head of Naspers Foundry, Naspers’ R1.4bn South Africa focused early stage tech investment vehicle (Naspers was an early investor in Tencent). Additionally, Fabian is a non-executive Investment Committee member at Thuso Partners, a private equity fund of funds manager focused on incubating 1st time black private equity fund managers in South Africa.
Prior to Naspers, Fabian was Head of Co-investments at South Suez Capital’s Africa private equity co-investment programme, where he invested and managed a >US$200m portfolio. Fabian started his career as a management consultant at McKinsey and Co. He then went on to spend several years in investment banking at J.P. Morgan and UBS.
Fabian has a Bachelor of Business Science from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from the London Business School.

Grace Legodi is the Director Country Manager for Plug and Play South Africa, an early stage investor, startup business development accelerator and corporate innovation platform all with the aim of helping to bring new technology to market faster (Plug and Play’s past investments include PayPal and Dropbox to name a few).
Prior to this role, she gained over 10 years’ experience in financial services, 5 years of which were spent at Goldman Sachs: 3 years in Johannesburg and 2 years in New York. During her time in New York, she was the Ambassador Board of Launch with GS, Goldman Sachs' first for-profit $500m initiative with a gender lens to invest in women-founded, -owned and/or -led businesses.
She has a Bachelor Business Science Honours Degree (Accounting and Finance majors) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Arthur Chupeau is a Head of Ventures at The Baobab Network, a technology accelerator built for Africa, investing in the next generation of African tech entrepreneurs. The Baobab Network is the fastest growing and most successful start-up accelerator in Africa.
Prior to Baobab, Arthur worked for over 10 years across Europe, Asia, USA and Africa and has deep experience in PE and Investment Banking, 5 years of which he spent at UBS.
Arthur has a BS in Finance from Northeastern University in Boston.

The panel event will include a Q&A opportunity at the end for audience members.
