About the Accel Awards 2021
The Accel Awards is an annual business start-up competition organised by the London Business School Africa Club in collaboration with LBS alumni and corporate partners including FTSE 100 companies, venture capital firms, entrepreneurship incubators and media companies. The Accel Awards aims at accelerating the promotion of early-stage start-ups through mentoring, idea pitching and funding.
Since 2018, the event has been sponsored by 20+ partners, including WorldRemit, Google, Ethiopian Airways and Pictus Ventures. It has also attracted 1000+ applicants serving a wide range of industries, from fintech, education, agriculture to healthcare.
This year, our top 3 finalists are:

Emergency Response Africa (ERA) (Nigeria), a company building the largest network of First Responders, emergency vehicles and hospitals to deliver medical care in minutes

Kippa ( Nigeria) and a bookkeeping and cash flow management app for small businesses

Sanaa Space (Kenya), an online art subscription marketplace that gives businesses and individuals affordable and flexible access to original artwork
They will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of high-profile judges for a share of up to £10,000 during the LBS Africa Club’s flagship Africa Business Summit (ABS) on May 8th, 2021. Our distinguished judges are: Nick Hughes OBE (4RD Digital, M-Kopa, formerly M-Pesa), Nathalie Akon Gabala (Mastercard Foundation) and Rajal Upadhyaya (Catalyst Principal Partners).
About the London Business School Africa Business Summit 2021 (LBS ABS 2021)
The LBS ABS 2021 will be a virtual event. The ABS is an Africa-focused annual event hosting change-makers, business-builders, and inspiring leaders at the front-line of the African continent’s success. It gathers more than 500 participants each year and has featured impressive speakers such as the President of Ghana, the CEO of Standard Bank, and the CEO of Safaricom. This year’s summit will highlight the needs for Africa to build resilience as the continent charts the way forward for a rapid post-COVID recovery.
