Welcome back to all returning students and a special welcome to the newest members of the LBS community!
The Africa Club is a diverse community of students from all programs, alumni and faculty focused on increasing awareness of the opportunities across Africa, the growth continent. Our flagship event is the Africa Business Summit, Europe's largest Africa-focused conference organised by students. If you are keen to know more and want to be involved, join us for our kick-off presentation on 2 September 2019 at 7pm. The event will include a talk from LBS alumnus, Richard Mensah-Baah, on the state of private equity in Africa and the opportunities going forward.
Richard has had an extensive career in private equity and investments focused on Africa. After graduating from LSE, he obtained his MBA from LBS and transitioned from banking to investing at major investment houses including DPI and Abraaj. His more than [10] years of experience has led him to his current role as advisor to firms such as Tana Africa and TPG.The talk will be followed by a networking reception where you can mingle with alumni and learn more about the continent with the world’s fastest growing middle class.

Richard is the co-founder of Seavest Africa Partners, a principal investment and institutional advisory firm focused on West Africa. Prior to that he worked with Development Partners International, Africa Finance Corporation and most recently the Abraaj Group where he invested growth equity and provided debt financing for companies in Africa. He has over a decade of experience in private equity and project financing across multiple industries. He began his finance career with HSBC Global Banking & Markets after graduating from the London School of Economics. He also holds an MBA from London Business School.
