As a pioneer of molecular gastronomy, Ferran is widely considered one of the world’s best and most influential chefs. His restaurant elBulli was awarded three Michelin stars and undoubtedly the most controversial and experimental restaurant in the world, and was voted #1 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards a record five times. After closing the restaurant in 2011, Ferran reopened the site as The elBulli Foundation, an innovation centre where he has been developing a research methodology and digital platform called Sapiens.

Ferran is a philosopher of food and a guru of international gastronomy. With his elBulli Foundation, he created a centre for research into gastronomic innovation whose mission is to study and catalogue the entire body of world culinary knowledge.
