Registration is now closed (this event already took place).
Crypto@LBS, a student-led initiative by Leon Marshall and Christoph Mueller, and the GSA Club, are excited to invite you to "An Introduction to Cryptovaluation".
We hope the event will be informative, fun and hopefully give some thought provoking perspectives into cryptovaluation.
If you are left in the dark on how to think about the price of bitcoin, ethereum or altcoins, come join us and listen to John Pfeffer, Gauthier Salavert and Richard Muirhead who will each hold a 20-25 minute presentation and share their frameworks on how they see a particular aspect of the space. Let's face it, business school students love a good framework.
The details of the event are as follows:
Date: April 17th, 2018
Time: 19:00-21:00, with networking and drinks (at the Windsor) after until 23:00
Location: LT6 (old campus)
The three presentations will be followed by a roughly 30 minute Q&A session after which we will have some drinks.
More specifically, the speakers will discuss the following:
• John Pfeffer: John is an entrepreneur and investor. He is also a former partner at KKR, former chairman of the board at Groupe Allium S.A. and is also ex-McKinsey. John will focus on a discussion around equilibrium valuations for BTC/ETH and certain sectors, which will be in line with what he wrote in his paper in December 2017 (gain overview here or read full paper here)
• Gauthier Salavert – Gauthier has worked in private equity for a family office, has experience in traditional VC and is also advisor for ICON (cryptocurrency project). Gauthier will focus on the indeterministic nature of crypto markets and what it entails for a sound investment strategy. See his medium post here
• Richard Muirhead – Richard is General Partner of Fabric Ventures, General Partner of VC firm OpenOcean, Co-founder & chairman of advisory board of Firestartr and all-round serial entrepreneur, investor and advisor. Richard will focus on how Fabric thinks about investing in protocol stage crypto projects and how valuation for early stage projects in crypto differs from that of traditional VC.
The event is the first event since Crypto @LBS had organized the "ICOs - Threat, Fad or Opportunity" back in February, which featured Michael Jackson (Mangrove Partners), Christina Frankopan (Fabric Ventures), Arven Smit (Dovu) and Eitan Jankelewitz (Sheridans). The collaboration with GSA connects the dots between Blockchain/Crypto, Switzerland (Crypto Valley) and Germany (Berlin is home to the most exciting cryptocurrency projects in Europe).
