Dr Taniguchi will examine some of the fundamental issues influencing the Japanese politico-economic system today and in the inmediate future, putting them in the context of the changes and challenges of the current geopolitics and business trends in the contemporary world. Speaker profile:
Dr. Tomohiko Taniguchi is a special adviser to the Fujitsu Future Studies Centre and a specially appointed professor at the University of Tsukuba. He worked extensively as the late Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's foreign policy speechwriter, drafting speeches that the Prime Minister delivered to the parliaments of India, Australia, and the United States, among others. With an LLB from the University of Tokyo, he began his career as a print journalist. While in the UK, 1997-2000, he was elected President of the Foreign Press Association in London, the first from Asia. He later joined Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Press Secretary and served as then-Foreign Minister Taro Aso’s speechwriter.
