In this year's Global Trek, we will explore how new trends and challenges are shaping healthcare around the world.

  • Dr Iffat Zahar, Co-Founder and COO, Sehat Kahani 

Dr. Iffat Zafar is the Co-Founder and Chief Operations Officer for Sehat Kahani, a telemedicine startup based in Pakistan. She did her medicine from Ziauddin Medical University and currently. She is a ​Commonwealth scholar for her ongoing Masters in Global E-Health from ​University of Edinburgh​. She is the ​MIT Elevate Prize Winner (2020)​, She is also the ​GCC Innovator (2020) for her work in telemedicine with the support of GCC. She was recently featured by ​Microsoft4Africa ​2020 for the women led success stories in South Asia. She has been a winner of the ​GSMA Accelerator (2018-19),​ & a ​Good Fund Fellow 2017-18​.  She has also been a prominent speaker at prestigious platforms such as ​World Bank Human Capital Summit 2020 (Islamabad), ​Mobile World Congress ​Barcelona 2019, TEDxZiauddin (2018), and ​Gender Smart Impacting Summi​t London 2018, to name a few.

  • Dr Mohamed Aburawi, Founder and COO, Speetar

Dr Mohamed Aburawi, a physician and health entrepreneur from Libya, currently a fellow at the Legatum Center for Development & Entrepreneurship at MIT. In 2017 Mohamed founded Speetar, an AI enabled telehealth platform supported by researchers at MIT and Harvard. Piloted in Libya in partnership with the UNDP, Speetar links under-served patients in Africa and the Middle East to a global pool of cultural and language-matched specialists. Speetarrepresents a disruptive healthcare model, aiming to break-down economic, social, and geographic barriers that too often limit the options patients have when seeking quality medical care.
