Gonzalo García is co-head of the Global Natural Resources Group in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, as well as the IBD Client and Business Standards Committee and the IBD Operating Committee.
Throughout Gonzalo’s 22 years of investment banking experience, his focus has been in the utilities sector, where he has advised governments and private companies in Latin America, Asia and Europe on industry restructurings, privatizations, cross-border transactions and financings. Gonzalo has also led the development of the IBD infrastructure business. Prior to assuming his current role, he was head of the EMEA Natural Resources Group and co-head of Global Power and Infrastructure. Gonzalo joined Goldman Sachs as an executive director in 1999 and was named managing director in 2002 and partner in 2008.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Gonzalo worked as a systems engineer for IBM Corporation from 1988 to 1991 and for the British merchant bank Kleinwort Benson from 1993 to 1999.
Gonzalo is a member of the Private Sector Advisory Panel to the Financial Development Council of the World Bank and serves on the UK Member Committee of the World Energy Council.
