Luxury Strategy Series FW 20: Rent the Runway's Sarah Tam on the future of Rental and Fashion

The Retail & Luxury Goods Club is excited to host Sarah Tam, the Chief Merchant at Rent the Runway.

Sarah leads the merchandising, buying, styling, inventory planning and product development teams at Rent the Runway. She oversees the 550+ brand partnerships and has worked with brands to innovate their current business model with the use of data and additional revenue streams. Sarah began her career at Saks Fifth Avenue where she spent over 15 years.

Rent the Runway was founded in 2009 by two HBS MBA students Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Fleiss. RTR pioneered the ‘closet in the cloud’ and believes that women everywhere will soon have a subscription to fashion, making renting an indispensible utility while also empowering them to feel like their best selves everyday. RTR carries hundreds of thousands of pieces of apparel and accessories by 550+ designer partners with options for work, weekends and special occasions.
