Content
After initiating students into working with Jupyter workbook sessions, we address introductory steps and concepts in programming before moving on to data structures that are specific to Python. Proficiency in these data structures, while fundamental to the programmer’s toolkit, is also essential for those who want to analyse or question the programmers’ results or approach to the problem, since there is a direct relationship link from the what and how of analyses to insights derived.
Exercises and workbooks are included to help students practise the features taught so that they internalise their use and application for the purpose of achieving specified objectives. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions about their understanding of basic Python by referring to the lecture slides and the exercises proposed therein. Some of these exercises will be worked out during the session. There will also be a formal workbook exercise to practise the use of data structures learnt.
