Fellow thespians,

“Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.”

The Acting Club is delighted to announce the staging of a full production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Jonathan Broadbent and John Lightbody will be directing the play, giving you the opportunity to be led by two London-based actors and directors! The production will be staged at the Rudolph Steiner Theatre, just a stone's throw from campus. It will run for 2 nights, on the 3rd and 5th of June.

Many of you have already expressed strong interest, and we encourage you to take part.

Jonnie will be holding auditions over two consecutive evenings next week, Tuesday April 21 and Wednesday April 22, from 6 pm in PLG03. Please sign up for the auditions through Campus Groups, in the links below. You will need to choose one of the available 15 min time slots.

We are also looking for a stage manager and production assistants. If you are not a fan of the limelight, but would like to be involved in other ways, please let us know! A production like this requires lots of backstage talent (think stage design, costumes, sundry production assistance) and is a fantastic opportunity to either practice, or learn a new craft. Similarly, let us know if you know of anyone not on this mailing list/outside of LBS with the requisite skills who might be available to work with us.

A few important notes:

  1. Make sure to be on time for your scheduled slot! There’s no compensation for lateness or no-shows.
  2. While extensive preparation isn’t required, we will send you dialogue from the play for you to familiarise yourself with in advance of the audition, if you have time.
  3. Since we have professionals leading the production, this is considered an advanced drama class (i.e. Acting Class Level 3) and as such, all participants will need to pay a fee of approximately £120 if you are selected for a role
  4. This is all very exciting and guaranteed to be one of the most memorable parts of your LBS experience... but taking part will require a serious commitment over a period of 6 weeks. Please consider your availability and ability to fully commit before deciding whether (or not) to audition.
  5. Regular rehearsals are currently planned 2x/week (Tues & Weds) from 7 - 10:30pm starting April 28, as well as one day on some weekends.

Results of the auditions will be communicated promptly, as rehearsals are set to begin Tuesday April 28.
