Patria Investments
Mr. Lopes is Chief Economist and Strategist at Patria Investments, where he supports the firm’s diversified investment activities in Brazil and Latin America. He joined the group in 1996, when he held the same position at Banco Patrimônio de Investimentos, the predecessor of Patria.
From 1997-2003, Mr. Lopes was the Chief Economist and Strategist for Brazil at JP Morgan Chase, Chase Securities and Salomon Brothers. From 1990-1996, before working in the financial markets, Mr. Lopes was Chief Economist and a Partner at MCM Consultores Associados and Tendências Consultoria Integrada, Brazil’s most prominent economic consultancy firms.
Mr. Lopes holds a Bachelor in Economics Summa Cum Laude from the College of Economics and Business Administration of the Universidade de São Paulo and a Master’s Degree in Economics Magna Cum Laude from the College of Economics and Business Administration of the Universidade de São Paulo. He is a visiting lecturer at Cass Business School – City University London.
Mr. Lopes sits at the International Advisory Board of Blackstone, the premier global investment firm that is Patria’s partner since 2010.
