The Basketball Club is one of the leading sports clubs at London Business School with more than 300 students and alumni members from across all the programs: MBA, Executive MBA, Masters in Finance, Masters in Management and Sloan Masters.

The Basketball Club is the platform around which basketball lovers at LBS gather to enjoy one of their favourite sports: basketball. Our aim is to offer people a place to practice, learn, and compete, all this while having a really good time with great people in a nice environment.

• MBA Tournament (MBAT): one of the highlights of the year, a mini-Olympics tournament in which European Business Schools and their sports teams fight to be the very best in a variety of sports ranging from basketball to ultimate Frisbee and salsa dancing. The event involves the entire School community, including students, partners, staff and faculty. The basketball team managed a Silver in 2019, we hope to improve on that this year with your help!

• Regular practice sessions on Wednesdays and Saturdays in Central London, with alumni and students attending.

• In addition to playing ball, this is a great opportunity for students to network with alumni, and meet people from other programs.

Membership Categories

1) Students - £0 Joining Fee - players must pay a £10 fee per session for any practice sessions attended. Suitable for those who are likely to attend only a few sessions over the year.

2) Students - £80 Termly Fee - this covers all fees for practice sessions held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Membership is valid till the end of the current term. Suitable for those who intend to play regularly over a term, but not the full year.

3) Students - £150 Yearly Fee - this covers all fees for practice sessions held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Membership is valid for 1 academic year. Suitable for those who intend to play regularly over the year.

4) Alumni - £250 Yearly Fee - this covers all fees for practice sessions held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Membership is valid for 1 academic year. Suitable for those who intend to play regularly over the year.

FLII in Business Club is LBS’ newest diversity club, founded in 2021.
FLII stands for First generation, Low and Intermediate income, representing socio-economic diversity.
Besides the struggles in financing their tuition and the costly life at the heart of London/Dubai, FLII students also experience reduced feelings of belonging within the broader LBS community. Even those who have economically ascended often have a hard time building a rapport in social situations due to the gap between their reference points and the perspectives of many other students.

The Volunteer Club is involved primarily with:

• Business Education
• Service Treks to Ghana and India
• Working with the Community Action Group (CAG) on School wide events
• Connecting LBS volunteers with other activities as possible


Education Events: The volunteer club works with local community organisations and larger non-profits to build career and business skills in youths. The Volunteer Club is currently working with Young Enterprise, Career Academies UK, Access Project UK, Enabling Enterprise, Hackney pirates and other organisations to provide CV and Cover Letter review sessions, business skill classes (including interview skills and preparation sessions), and entrepreneurship mentoring.

Ghana Trek: The Ghana Trek is an opportunity for LBS students to use their skills to make a positive, real impact in rural communities in Ghana, arguably the most promising growth nation in sub-Saharan Africa. With our primary focus on microfinance, Trek members will have the chance to talk and interact with local community members who manage the rural savings and credit cooperatives we will be working with, as well as gain in-depth knowledge about the challenges of working in the context of the developing world. The result will be our delivering real change recommendations for our partner's microfinance operations in the region.

Community Action Group: As a student volunteer group, we work closely with the faculty and staff of LBS through the Community Action Group (CAG). Together, we have successfully run Campus wide toy drives, clothing drives and volunteer days to help the local community.

The Women's Touch Rugby Club is the most active, engaged and FUN club on campus. There are three key tenets that drive our club:

1. Inclusion
This is a club for both athletes and women who have never played a team sport (or any sport) in their lives! We actively seek to create a diverse community of MiM, MBA, MFA, EMBAL, MIFT, etc., students and partners. We also have a social membership option available for those ladies who want to be involved outside of playing activities. There is no "typical WTRC woman." This is a club about forming deep relationships during and well beyond your time at LBS.

2. Achievement
We are achievers! We held the the title of World MBA Touch Rugby champs in 2018 and narrowly missed out in 2019. Unfortunately, we lost the chance to win in 2020 & 2021 due to COVID, but are hopeful we can achieve that title again in the 2022 season! We practice twice per week (fitness, drills and scrimmage) and we build a team of champions from a group of women who have probably never played touch rugby! Beyond the pitch, we offer mentoring, 1:1 interview prep sessions and alumni career advisory sessions to help our ladies achieve more in their careers. WTRC seeks to make its members successful on and off the pitch!

3. Empowerment
We want to create an empowered team of women at LBS and beyond. We offer mentoring, career prep and social activities to create a strong bond between women at LBS and beyond. We believe that playing team sports is both a bonding and empowering experience!
