A Talk from award-winning author, Anna Dopico and entrepreneur and founder of Cervélo cycles, Phil White!

Anna has written an award winning entrepreneurial and business book called To Make Riders Faster (https://tomakeridersfaster.com/) - a book about Gerard Vroomen and Phil White taking Cervélo Cycles (the UK’s fastest bikes) from a basement school project to the very top of pro cycling. In less than a decade, they built one of the most sought-after brands in cycling and realised their dream of seeing their bikes win the Tour de France, the Olympics and Ironman races. The book was a Readers Views 2018-2019 Literary Awards Winner in the Business/Sales/Economics category.

Anna Dopico never imaged herself as a writer but felt compelled to write Phil and Gerard’s story. She wanted to inspire others. She wanted anyone who read the book to enjoy and learn from the story of two students who decided to build a company and succeeded against the odds. Anna had an insider’s view. She was not only Phil’s spouse but a business person and provided Cervélo a home in the early years. She became a business advisor and in the later years, worked for the company. She spent three years writing the Cervélo story and interviewed employees, partners, suppliers, customers and athletes for their insights and stories.

Anna will be joined by Phil who is one of cycling's leading innovators. Phil's company, Cervélo, took an engineering-led approach to developing their products. For several years, Cervélo was perhaps unique in manufacturing aero road bikes, a design philosophy now adopted by some of the world’s biggest bike brands.
