Careers Lunch: Energy Markets Intelligence at IHS

Energy Club presents first ever Careers Lunch with IHS - one of the foremost global market intelligence and consulting firms in Oil & Gas sector. James Coan is a Senior Consultant with IHS in their Houston offices. He specializes in strategic consulting and market intelligence for upstream unconventional oil and gas. He will interact with students and discuss industry insights, career advice and introduction to a specialized part of the energy value chain in an informal setting.

Guest Bio: James joined PacWest (now IHS) in 2012, where he has primarily worked in the firm’s Consulting practice, covering the exploration, drilling, completion, and production phases of the well lifecycle, with functional experience that includes market entry, strategy analysis and development, and investor due diligence. Prior to joining PacWest, he was as a Research Associate at the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University’s Baker Institute, where he conducted studies on issues including transportation efficiency, urban sprawl and development in China, US energy policy, and customer impacts of volatile energy prices. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
