Reflections on Strategy and Leadership

Fireside Chat with Andrew Gould
  • Board Member Saudi Aramco
  • Board Member Letter1 Energy
  • Former Chairman BG Group
  • Former Chairman & CEO Schlumberger

The LBS Energy Club is delighted to host a fireside chat with Andrew Gould, led by Alumni Board Director Raju Patel, to discuss Strategy and Leadership in the Oil & Gas Industry - a rare opportunity to candidly delve into the mindset,  thinking and values behind Andrew Gould's personality.

Andrew Gould is a member of the Boards of Saudi Aramco and Letter1 Energy.

He was Chairman of BG Group from May 2012 until its sale to Royal Dutch Shell in February 2016. and prior to that, was Chairman & CEO of Schlumberger.

When:   Tuesday, 1 November 2016 at 6:45pm (ends on Tue, Nov 1 at 9:00pm)
Where:  LT6 and then Park Restaurant, Suite 2, London Business School, London, United Kingdom

Andrew Gould is an undisputed icon not only in the energy industry but also on the global corporate stage.  His track record of transforming Schlumberger from a little known service company to THE leading oilfield services company, while creating immense shareholder value is remarkable.  This is all the more so because there are very few "British" captains of industry who we would regard as true global leaders.
His subsequent leadership of BG Group and having the foresight to expeditiously strike an "advantageous" deal for BG Group in it's tie-up with Shell - and at precisely the right moment, is also a huge success and coup for Royal Dutch Shell.
The fireside chat will focus on how Andrew started his career, rose through the ranks and became a dominant personality on the world corporate stage:
  • Management & Leadership challenges faced by Andrew throughout his career
  • Mindset, thinking and worldview
  • Defining moments
  • Personal reflections on what the terms "leadership", "strategy", "vision", "performance", "business", "management" and "influence" really mean
  • Views on how the business ecosystem is likely to evolve over the next decade
