Ed Dean moved to Shanghai in 2003 after 5 years working with London digital agencies. Speaking almost no Chinese and knowing no one in all of China on arrival, he started and built up JETT customer experience which is now a Shanghai-based retail industry consulting company with a team of 40. JETT is a two-times shortlisted finalist at the British Business Awards, with clients including Disney, Apple, Ritz-Carlton, Ctrip and Virgin. In Shanghai Ed also set up side-project LGCL Designs, taking a consumer product from initial idea, through crowdfunding successfully on Kickstarter with backers from over 50 countries, to distribution through Apple Retail.

Ed has recently relocated back to London and will share his experience of working as a foreign entrepreneur in China over the past 12 years. His talk will focus on the do’s and don'ts of how to sell to the Chinese, lessons which the Chinese approach to business can offer businesses everywhere, and why we probably know less about China than we realise.
