Details
At the age of 16, Halim Flowers was wrongfully sentenced to 40 years of prison. His experience as a child inside of the DC Department of Corrections was filmed in the Emmy award winning documentary “Thug Life In DC”. While in prison, he discovered his love or arts, literature and entrepreneurship. He launched his publishing company and he released 100 books. In 2019, Halim was released under a new juvenile resentencing law and his freedom was documented by Kim Kadashian’s “The Justice Project”. He is a poet, author of 5 best selling books, world known artist, an entrepreneur, and an emerging fashion designer.
Halim is FLYP’s first and most prolific creator. Through a fireside chat with FLYP founders ( James & Nick), we will learn how Halim came through his adversity and launched his own publishing company, his visual art, and a new fashion line; learning top lessons from the battlefield of startups.
This event will be held on campus. All attendees must sign a waiver that allows for event filming and photography.
