The Entrepreneurial Fear, Tear & Cheer – Unlocking Potential and Inspiring Outcomes

Nirmal Chhabria is an established entrepreneur enrolled in the EMBA program at LBS. Nirmal has the rare ability to combine subject matter expertise with his professional industry experience in global start-up enterprises to provide innovative and high impact learning. Through this session, Nirmal will share and provide insights from his personal journey that demonstrate how he used his entrepreneurial skills in networking, negotiation, fund raising, managing investors, suppliers and customer expectations through various stages, and finally, on how he negotiated his way out of captivity after being kidnapped and held for ransom for 23 days.

In 2009, Nirmal was selected by 'Growing Business Magazine' as one of the “Top 30 entrepreneurs in the UK” and featured in the class of “Young Guns 2009”. He has also been named the “Young Business Achiever of the Year” in the 'Western Mail Business in Wales’ Award & was the first runner up for the Entrepreneur of the Year award by the South West Chamber of Commerce. Nirmal’s company was also featured in the Hot 100 “Fast Growth Companies” list and was the runner up for the Western mail “Most Innovative Company of the Year” Award in 2007. 

He continues to support start-up enterprises across industries as a mentor and acts as a non-executive director on the board of five companies within the public and private sectors. Nirmal has performed advisory roles for various governments and councils and advised on matters relating to inward investment and strategic development. He currently splits his time between working as part of the acquisition team and heads the Oil & Gas trading arm at Liberty House Group 

Like many successful entrepreneurs Nirmal’s road to success has come with its fair share of trials and tribulations.  He has faced many obstacles along the way and has needed to display exceptional drive and determination in order to overcome them.  His journey has inspired him to share with others his first-hand experience of what it takes to succeed in business.  Drawing on his experience of developing and running fast-growth businesses, Nirmal combines subject matter expertise and industry knowledge to create innovation and high impact learning.
