Participants must be able to hike trails with up to 914m (3,000 ft) of elevation gain over 13 km (8 mi), approximately 6-7 hours of hiking. This expedition requires a good fitness level.
Tickets are transferable to other members of the LBS community. However, no refunds will be offered once tickets are purchased. This expedition has inherent risks, and travel insurance is strongly recommended.
About the trek:
This trek takes you through England’s beautiful Lake District National Park. The trip will include 2 days of hiking surrounded by valleys and lakes. We will summit England’s 3rd tallest peak, Helvellyn, on day 1 and complete a picturesque lakeview hike on day 2. The trek will total 40 participants (2 ExCo plus 38 students).
Trek costs and ticket sales:
The expedition will cost £275 per person.
The ticket includes:
- Accommodation (2 nights in hostel)
- 3 Meals (Daily breakfast & one group dinner)
- Guides (Experienced, local guides for Helvellyn summit)
- Transport:
Coach from Windermere to accommodation
Round-trip coach to/from Helvellyn hike
Coach from Walla Crag hike to Windermere (last day)
The ticket excludes:
- Trains: Windermere round-trip (~£80 with railcard, book early)
- Other meals: lunches and dinner on night 2
- Travel insurance
There will be one ticket per purchaser. If there are tickets remaining after 1 week, then we will open it up to partners and then alumni.
Trip Timeline:
The expedition will take place from May 8th to May 10th. A rough itinerary is as follows:
Day 1 (May 8th) – Travel to Keswick; Water activities (Optional); Group Dinner; Stay at hostel
Day 2 (May 9th) – Helvellyn hike; Stay at hostel
Day 3 (May 10th) – Walla Crag hike; transport to train station
Dress Casual (jeans ok)
Food Provided
