DISCLAIMER
Participants must be competent swimmers and able to handle 25 km of paddling (over two days) and 10 km of hiking, including up to 1,200m of elevation gain (over 1 day). This expedition requires a good fitness level.
Tickets are transferable to other members of the LBS community. However, no refunds will be offered once tickets are purchased. This expedition has inherent risks, and travel insurance is highly recommended.
ABOUT TREK
This trek takes you through Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounded by 1,500+ meter mountains and breathtaking landscapes. The trip will include 2 days kayaking, 1 day of hiking, and wild camping on the banks of the fjord. It will be physically demanding, but rewarding. The expedition party will total 20 participants (3 ExCo plus 17 non-ExCo students). Expect stunning paddling routes, wild camping, and rewarding views.
TRIP COST AND TICKET SALES
The expedition will cost £750 per person, including flights.
The ticket includes:
- Flights (London Gatwick – Bergen round-trip)
- Accommodation (2 nights in serviced apartments / hotels, 2 nights in shared tents)
- Meals (Breakfast, lunch & dinner during expedition)
- Guides (Experienced, local, and English-speaking)
The ticket excludes:
- Sleeping bag & pad, and other packing items (listed in presentation)
- Transfer on final day from Bergen to Bergen airport
- Travel insurance
- Meals on first and final transit days of trip
Due to high projected demand and because we didn’t specify beforehand that briefing attendance was required, the tickets are going on general release to students only in the initial sales window. There will be one ticket per purchaser. If there are tickets remaining after the first round (1 week), then we will open it up to partners and then alumni.
PRE-EXPEDITION
We will run:
- Kit Check – ensure participants have all necessary items
- Swim Test – confirm swimming ability for safety
- Kayak Training Day – practice kayaking techniques & safety
NOTES
- The expedition group will stay together throughout, but for smooth running will be split into 3 teams of 6. Furthermore, throughout the trip you will be paired up with a buddy who you will keep an eye out for during the activities and share accommodation with at night. For this reason it is highly recommended that you plan to attend with someone with whom you would be comfortable to share accommodation for 4 days.
- Accommodation will be in shared double beds (first night), shared tents during expedition (2 individuals per tent) and shared twin rooms (final night). Further details on itinerary and provisions have been circulated within Expedition Club WhatsApp group. Please get in touch prior to booking if you have not yet received presentation with full details.
- Flights are included within ticket price and timings are fixed to ensure smooth logistics
- Only LBS students allowed due to limited nature of tickets
