Healthcare Club concludes successful Swiss Healthcare Trek

The 3- day Swiss Healthcare Trek took 14 LBS students and 2 career services team members to meet some of the world’s leading healthcare companies based in Switzerland. The students, with keen interest in healthcare, got the opportunity to learn about these companies, meet their business leaders and explore job opportunities. The trek covered 6 leading healthcare companies and travelled across 4 cities in 3 days.

Day 1

The trek started at   Sanofi Aventis HQ in Geneva where   the students were addressed by Sanofi’s Country Manager.  The next stop   was Medtronic at Tolochnenaz. After   meeting the business leaders and discussing innovations in medical devices,   the students got a tour of Medtronic’s world-class manufacturing facility.   Driving past a beautiful lake, the trek reached Basel for an evening with Roche. At the drink reception,   students got a unique chance to converse with senior managers and recruiters   from Roche while making promising contacts and networks.

Day 2 started with a visit to Abbott in Basel where business leaders spoke about their career   paths. Students got the opportunity to network and make contacts with the   Abbott team. Next stop was the Novartis   campus where the group got a tour of the architecturally astounding campus   followed by presentations from business leaders of various divisions of   Novartis. The day ended with an Alumni drinks event at a restaurant next to   the river.

Day 3

On the last day of the trek, the group travelled to   Zug to meet Johnson & Johnson   where along with the presentation by the Senior Finance Director, students   had the opportunity to network with the J&J team including LBS alumni.

It was a very successful event enjoyed by the students and resulting in over 25 possible summer projects. Special thanks to Jurek and Fiona, from career services, who were great mentors and facilitators. The relationship between LBS and the healthcare industry continues to grow stronger, and hopefully the trek will generate many internhsip and employment opportunities.
