LAUNCHING THE MUSIC INDUSTRY SERIES

“The Deep Hidden Meaning of Songwriting”, with Merck Mercuriadis and Nile Rodgers

The Music Club and Tech and Media Club are proud to invite the London Business School community to the first event of the Music Industry Series on February 21st from 12:00 to 13:30 where legendary musician Nile Rodgers and acclaimed music executive and manager Merck Mercuriadis will discuss "The deep hidden meaning of songwriting" and other important aspects about the music industry.

THE EVENT
The Music Industry Series is an initiative to shed light over this exciting and diverse industry that generates close to USD 50bn in revenues globally. The deep changes in technology, consumer preferences and industry structure create a number of exciting career opportunities, especially in the UK as successful British acts including Ed Sheeran, Adele, Coldplay, Skepta and the Rolling Stones helped exports of UK music soar in 2016 by 13% to £2.5 billion.

In addition to this first event discussing the role of songwriters in the industry, we aim to cover other interesting themes such as the private equity investment opportunities, the role of new technologies in music distribution, the growing role of live concerts for artists and the new strategies adopted by record labels to grow the industry.
