LBO and Valuation Financial Modelling Training Day – Refresher for Summer Internships

The Private Equity and Venture Capital Club is pleased to share with you the opportunity to attend a one-day training seminar on financial modelling with Geoff Robinson, an accomplished advisor, investor, trainer and author.  Participants will work through advanced aspects of a financial model during the seminar, covering the topics in the program agenda.  Participants will be assumed to have basic familiarity with Excel, and basic finance and accounting concepts.  During the seminar, participants will also consider aspects of the model that will be relevant to interviews and modelling tests at private equity funds.

This training seminar is relevant to all students pursuing positions in: private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, corporate strategy, financial advisory and related fields. 

The session is recommended as a resource for those preparing for investment banking or other related internships this summer.

About Geoff Robinson:  Geoff has spent much of his professional career consulting for investment bankers, buy and sell-side research analysts as we as private equity and sovereign wealth analysts. He has worked with all the global investment banks over this period across all geographies.  Geoff currently heads up the global accounting, valuation and modelling unit of UBS based in London.  This is a role with a global remit.  The role sees Geoff working with analysts and clients from a technical perspective to enhance the delivery of technical excellence of the UBS research product, in conjunction with the execution of the new thesis map.  In his previous role he was Global head of investment banking, research and private equity within Fitch's learning division.  His expertise lies within in the areas of accounting, valuation and modelling, particularly focussing on the development of financial modelling solutions for valuation and accounting issues.  As well as an instructor, Geoff has been a start up investor in two realised private market transactions.  The latest of these was a disposal of a LBO vehicle to Fitch Ratings in 2013, in a landmark leveraged transaction executed against the backdrop of global financial crisis.  Geoff was also the lead author of "The Complete Research Analyst" and "The Complete Investment Banker", published by Fitch.  This is a publication that is recognised as the de facto technical publication for analysts working in investment bankingHe has also been published and has contributed to articles in The Wall Street journal, Deal Book, The New York Times, The Guardian and The Deal.com.  Geoff is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, qualifying with PriceWaterhouse in 1998 and a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. He holds an honours degree in Economics from the University of Durham.
