PE Speaker Series: Learn how to break into the PE industry

On our next PE Speaker Series, we will be hosting John Messer from Tenzing

Tenzing: A UK mid-market (fast growing companies with £1-8m EBITDA) investor, Tenzing Private Equity raised its first fund of £200m in Jan 2017. Since then, Tenzing has completed 8 investments and its strong early momentum saw it recently awarded Real Deals' UK Fund of the Year and recently achieved its first exit, realising 5.4x on its sale of FMP.

John Messer: An MBA2015, John worked as a management consultant prior to LBS. He then interned at Goldman Sachs and Inflexion before joining Alchemy Partners, a special situations fund, before joining Tenzing as it raised it first fund. Here John focuses on investing in fast growing, UK and Nordic-based technology companies. To date investing in CitNOW, Ticketer and FARA

John will speak about his journey into private equity and tips on how to move into this industry. As well as the differences between the different types of funds i.e. hedge funds, special situations and PE (including the various types from small to large and growth to distressed). He will also discuss the different types of roles available to MBA students both on the investment-side and also management roles in portfolio companies. Tenzing has a strong track record of hiring from LBS for both.
