A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a relaxed, supportive, and no-pressure atmosphere.  There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another’s presentations and provide feedback.  This feedback process is a key part of the program’s success.  Meeting participants have the opportunity to present impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop skills related to timekeeping, grammar and parliamentary procedure.

Members learn communication skills by working through the Competent Communication manual, a series of 10 self-paced speaking assignments designed to instil a basic foundation in public speaking skills, as well as by performing speaking roles in the meetings including impromptu speech topics.

Notes

  • The Toastmasters club is open to everyone - you don't need to be associated with the London Business School.
  • This is a different event from the debate meetings, which will be posted separately when they resume.
  • Meeting time: 19:15 for 19:30 - 21:00
