DISCLAIMER

Participants must be able to hike trails with up to 4,400 ft / 1,345 m of elevation gain over 10.5 miles (17 km) and approximately 7-9 hours of continuous trekking.

Tickets are transferable to other members of the LBS community. However, no refunds will be offered once tickets are purchased. This expedition has inherent risks, and travel insurance is strongly recommended.

The Hike:

Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK, offers stunning panoramic views stretching as far as Northern Ireland on a clear day. This iconic hike will take you through dramatic landscapes, rugged trails, and ever-changing mountain scenery as we ascend to the summit at 1,345 m (4,413 ft).

We will begin our journey in Fort William, the adventure hub of the Scottish Highlands, where we will stay overnight before our trek at 8:30am. The trek follows the Mountain Track, a well-established route that gradually winds its way up the mountain, offering breathtaking views of lochs, glens, and towering peaks along the way.

Whether it’s your first major summit or another tick off your adventure list, this hike is all about pushing yourself, embracing the beauty of the Highlands, and sharing the experience with an amazing LBS crew.

Be ready for changing weather, rocky terrain, and a test of endurance—but also unforgettable moments as you take on one of the best hikes in the UK!

The Ticket Cost:

The expedition will cost £180 per person.

Participants should factor in additional costs for trains, personal gear, optional excursions, and meals. The ticket price includes accommodation and guided hiking services.

This expedition is open to all students, partners, and alumni.

The Ticket Includes:

Suggested Travel to Fort William (Not Included in Ticket Price)

To make your journey smooth and efficient, we recommend the following suggested travel route to Fort William:

✈️ Fly to Glasgow (1-hour flight) → 🚌 Take a direct bus to Fort William (3-hour ride).

  • Current cost as of 15/02 for a return flight + bus: £85
  • The bus departs directly from Glasgow Airport and offers a scenic route through the Highlands to Fort William.

Alternatively, you can take a train from London to Glasgow, which takes approximately 4.5 hours and costs around the same as a flight. From Glasgow, you can then take a bus or train to Fort William.

Please note: This is only a suggestion to help plan your journey. Travel costs are not included in the ticket price, and participants are responsible for arranging their own transport.

Trip Timeline:

The expedition will take place on 25th – 27th April. A rough itinerary is as follows:

  • 25th - Day 1 (Travel & Arrival) – Travel to Fort William, check into the hotel, pre-hike briefing, optional exploration of the town and optional group dinner at a local pub.
  • 26th - Day 2 (Summit Day) – 8:30am start, Ben Nevis hike (7-9 hours), return to hotel, free evening for dinner, and overnight stay at the hostel.
  • Day 3 (Return Travel) – Breakfast at the hostel, optional exploration.

Training & Fitness:

While no technical climbing or prior hiking experience is required, the Ben Nevis hike will be moderately physically challenging. To enjoy your experience, we recommend participants to have a good level of fitness.

Weather & Safety:

  • Safety is our priority. Two trained mountain guides will lead the group, and emergency protocols will be in place.
  • Weather conditions on Ben Nevis can change rapidly, with strong winds, and limited visibility even in summer.
  • Proper gear is essential-participants must be fully prepared for wet, and windy conditions.

Travel Insurance:

It is strongly recommended that all participants have travel insurance covering hiking in mountainous terrain, emergency rescue, and trip cancellations.
