President's Welcome

Hello, and welcome to LBS!

Dear All,First, I’d like to offer my congratulations! You’ve done it, all your hard work has paid off and you are here! Amazing work! And while I may be biased, I think you have made a great decision.

London Business School is a truly remarkable place. This is a place where diversity is central to the school and what sets us apart. As you may have seen in the marketing materials – LBS is nearly 90% international. You’ll meet students, staff and faculty from all over the world. On top of that, there is also diversity of thought, career backgrounds and age. The learning will not stop in the classroom - keep an open mind, listen and learn from one another.

LBS is also a place where kindness and compassion are celebrated. Poll any student – chances are they will tell you their favourite thing about this school is their fellow students. Get to know as many people as possible, treat one another with empathy, expand your horizons, and obviously, have a lot of fun together.

During your time at LBS you will come to learn there is no shortage of things to do. Find ways to translate your passions, whether personal or professional, into making the LBS experience better for your peers and future LBS students. There are a number of cultural, sports, and professional clubs you can get involved in. And if you cannot find what you are looking for, we are here to help you create it.

And when you aren’t studying, creating, competing and partying, I encourage you to explore all of the amazing things this beautiful city has to offer. And the exploring doesn’t have to stop in London. The rest of the world is at your fingertips and you should travel and leverage your classmates for their local expertise.

So, take advantage of every opportunity – join that club, go on that trip, take that challenging class – and step out of your comfort zone. I promise you, if you lean into all of what LBS has to offer, you will have the most fantastic time.

As for the Student Association – we are here to help guide you and make your time at LBS the best it possibly can be. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me (ccarvey.mba2020@london.edu) or the SA (sa@london.edu) if you have any questions.

On behalf of the rest of the SA Executive Committee, and the wider student body, I look forward to having you all on campus very soon.

Get excited – it is going to be a great year!
