The One Ocean MBA Conference & Regatta is just under three months away and, this year, in a brand new location! Organized by SDA Bocconi Business School and Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the event will be held from 19 to 22 September in Porto Cervo, SARDINIA! Every year, over 400 attendees from 20+ business school (including from the US and Asia) flock to the Italian shores to compete and party.

I have no clue what you're on about? Then watch this: https://youtu.be/VfYlez4_KlQ. Cool, isn't it?

Looks fab! But I don't know how to sail :( Can I still come?
Yes! LBS is competing in two categories. We have one boat in Division A with 5 spots that will go to LBS's best and bravest who will bring home the gold. Everyone else--and beginners are especially welcome!--will be in one of the two Division B boats, with 8 crew each. While Division B is still technically a competition, think of it as the most glamorous booze cruise you've ever been on!

Sweet! How much does it cost?
Total costs will be around £600-£630 (total TBC, likely less) and will include: boat charter, racing fees, on-board accommodation (shared onshore accommodation for Division A), daily breakfast, one aperitivo, one gala dinner, crew polos, and two massive parties! Each party will have some booze provided. You will never see more prosecco in your life!
Extra costs to budget for: travel to Sardinia (to organize yourself), possibly hiring a skipper (will be shared by participants and included in total cost), tuxedo rental for men for the Gala (if you don't have one), potentially some gear but you can likely wear things you already have.
A £300 non-refundable deposit is due when booking your spot to reserve your place.

How do I sign up?
14 Division B spots are first come, first serve (2 are reserved for skippers). Registration opens on Thursday, 28 June at 3 pm. Those who think they have what it takes for Division A should fill this form (https://forms.gle/8jCMNVBPc9kdNTBNA) and those selected will be given an opportunity to buy a ticket.
IMPORTANT: If you are interested in Division A or in skippering any boat but still want to come to the regatta whether or not you are selected, you should buy a Division B ticket now. If people are promoted from Division B to Division A or to a skipper spot, then we will promote from the waitlist to Division B.

What's the schedule?
Thursday:
Boat pick-up, free sailing (optional but recommended), welcome aperitivo
Friday: Breakfast, four hours of racing, evening town visit, crew party
Saturday: Breakfast, four hours of racing, awards ceremony, gala dinner, epic party
Sunday: Worst/best hangover of your life, breakfast if you can make it out of bed, free sailing if you can keep your breakfast down, checkout in the afternoon

Can I bring my partner?
Officially, partners cannot compete in the sailing activities. They can attend all the parties (at a reduced cost to be confirmed by the organizers in the coming weeks), but will have to sort out their own accommodation. We have sometimes managed to get partners on a boat, but we can't guarantee this and will be done on a discretionary basis and only if spots remain available.

Anything else I should know?
The gala dinner's dress code is black tie. If you choose to not sleep on the boat, we unfortunately cannot refund any part of the fee. If you're new to sailing, we will send you a list of what to pack closer to the event. There will be opportunities to train if you want to, but don't sweat it: this even is above all for fun! This is bound to be one of the highlights of business school, so do NOT miss it!
