Why have Spain and Italy's fortunes been so different after very similar and harsh COVID-19 first waves and lockdowns? Do similar social fabrics shy away contraposed institutions? How do the fates of these countries in this second wave affect their negotiating power as the Recovery plan for Europe goes underway? To answer these and other questions, the Spanish and Italian Clubs have invited economists Dr. Lucrezia Reichlin (London Business School) and Dr. Jesús Fernández-Villaverde (University of Pennsylvania) to share their thoughts, in a session moderated by Professor Paolo Surico, currently teaching "Economics of a Pandemic".
