Upcoming Greater London Events
Alumni Profile
Sebastian Luque
MBA 2016 and former Co-President of LBS Real Estate Club
What do you do?
I work in Round Hill Capital, a Pan-European real estate private equity.
What do the day-to-day activities of your role involve?
My day-to-day activities involve business development, deal sourcing, site touring, investment analysis and deal execution.
What do you love about your job?
You have the ability to engage in projects that mold cities, which in turn change people’s life.
Could you give an overview of a recent transaction you’ve worked on?
The past year we closed a transaction on a light industrial and logistics portfolio. It was a tough deal, where we spent over a year in up’s and downs. After great perserverance, we where able to close the transaction. Now, we are executing our business plan; enhancing assets’ value as we invest capex to modernize and increase efficciencies, while professionalizing the asset management, reporting and accounting of the growing portfolio.
What’s your favourite building in London?
The Gherkin.
What advice would you give students recruiting into real estate?
If you are changing sectors, as it was my case, do the homework and try to close the gap between the knowledge you bring from your previous job and the real estate specifics (i.e. market dynamics, KPI’s, supply and demand, capital inflows and out flows, etc.). Broadly speaking, real estate is not an industry where companies have structured recreuitment processes, so go out, meet people, network and learn from the RE community in events in and OUT of LBS.
Interview Questions
- Can you explain a waterfall structure to me?
- Would you rather purchase 40 single family homes or an apartment building with 4o units? Why?
- How does the yield curve affect real estate prices?
