Top news

New edition of the newsletter, new SPAC announcement. This time it is Arrival that announced going public by merging with special purpose acquisition company CIIG Merger Corp. 

The London-based company will worth more than $5 billion. Funds raised will serve the company in delivering their vision of electric delivery vans and public transportation buses. They also want to prove that microfactories are the future, not the gigafactories of Tesla and alikes.

What does this Jeep is special? It will feature an audio system from McIntosh, first car system in nearly two decades for the luxury brand. 

As the interior is becoming very silent due to switching from gasoline to electricity, in addition to the fantastic improvements of soundproofing, car manufacturers are investing heavily into making the music experience next level.

By discussing the sale of its self-driving car unit, Uber Advanced Technologies Group, Uber is narrowing its focus towards ride-hailing and food delivery.

The pandemic has sped up this strategy move from Uber and, after the exploration of autonomous robotaxis, micromobility, logistics and package delivery, comes the selling time. Micromobility's activity went to Lime, Uber Freight has been partially sold and Uber ATG might now be acquired by Aurora.

Speaking of autonomous vehicles, interest from investors is still high in the US as Nuro just announced a $500 million Series C at $5 billion valuation.

The company founded in 2016 by two former Google engineers will use the funds to deploy their vehicles across cities in the US. Their last version, the R2, a low-speed electric self-driving vehicle that transports packages, not people, just received an exemption from the federal government earlier this year that allows it to operate as a driverless vehicle.

We had the chance to receive Andrew Hodgson, Finance Director at TIER Mobility, last month. He told us that the company was about to raise a significant amount. $250 million raised with SoftBank as leading investor is a very significant round!
