Aspiring entrepreneurs at London Business School are invited to participate in a new applied learning opportunity, 'Entrepreneurship in the Community', which provides invaluable hands-on experience for students looking to work with a London SME.
Entrepreneurship in the Community is premised on the School's relationship with the neighbouring British Library which has been supporting some of the most exciting businesses in London with an ERDF funded project known as Innovating for Growth.
To-date over 200 businesses have been supported under the Innovating for Growth programme, whereby Founders and CEOs are the main contact throughout to enable strong relationships to be created both during and following the coaching modules. Participating businesses are striving to grow through exporting, new product design, implementing innovative processes and rebranding.
As an extension of the support provided under Innovating for Growth, a select number of participating businesses would benefit from follow-on support in strategic areas to enable them to pursue and sustain their new growth plans. Support is required in the form of coaching and advice, typically leading to the preparation of a business plan or comprehensive marketing plan for the participating SEM.
Entrepreneurship in the Community is available exclusively to EMBA and all MBA students. Interested students should complete the attached Expression of Interest Form and return it to Jane Khedair, Entrepreneurship, Career Services at jkhedair@london.edu before Friday 21 March, following which shortlisted applicants will be notified within 7 days for an April start date.
Many people argue that small firms are over-burdened by the weight of business law they must comply with and that many entrepreneurs struggle to keep pace with an ever changing and growing mountain of legislation. Estimates vary, but some say dealing with ‘red-tape’ takes up an average of two weeks of an entrepreneur’s time during an average year.
Come to this information-rich session covering all the essential legal issues which should be considered by a start-up or early-stage business.
The session will be presented by legal experts, Anna Humphrey, Simon Walker and Natasha Mason from Taylor Wessing (www.taylorwessing.com), a leading law practice which focusses on the industries of tomorrow in: Technology, Media and Communications; Life Sciences; Private; Wealth; Energy
