Battle of the Wine Titans - Australia VS France

When you think of France and wine... what comes to mind?

I bet it's either Champagne, or Bordeaux (or probably even both!). The success of the region, and its ability to produce some of the world's grandest wines (and the most expensive too) has led winemakers from all corners of the globe to seek to emulate some of its traits in the hope that success might rub off on them too.

One such country that has taken its fair share of lessons from Bordeaux is Australia (and sent an equal amount back in the other direction too by the way!). Winemakers there have taken the classic red Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, and planted them widely across Australia. The results? We'll let you judge for yourselves.. As we're going to be

showcasing several wines from both Bordeaux and Australia

on the night. The varieties are the same, but the results are quite different. You'll have the chance to taste them side-by-side and to vote for...

which country should be crowned the greatest!

Facilitating the night will be one Aussie and one Frenchman... each will have the pride of his nation to defend. All wines will be served blind, and it will be up to you to declare which wines you like the best, and therefore who'll win the night. As always, we'll be serving up plenty of cheese to match too.  

This will be an outstanding evening, and outstanding value given the quality (and quantity ...) of wines we'll be drinking.
