Details
Just because you're self-isolating, doesn't mean you have to drink alone - join the Wine & Spirits Club for a virtual wine tasting session (and charity fundraise!) this Friday evening!
- Wine Tasting ๐ท ๐ท ๐ท : Learn how to taste like a pro with the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting. We'll taste two affordable supermarket classics - Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Sauvignon
- Food Pairing ๐ง๐๐ง: We'll be demonstrating how different flavours change how you taste wine - if possible, please have lemon juice, cheddar cheese and salt to help with the tasting!
- Quiz โ: a little bit of fun to end the evening!
The TipJar
We are raising ££ for TipJar's Hospitality Workers Emergency Fund. Millions of minimum wage workers in the hospitality industry have lost their livelihood, but are not protected by the UK's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme due to lack of official contracts, being paid off pay roll or being dismissed by employers before the announcement. The fund is intended to help the most vulnerable hourly paid workers during this time. While our event is technically free, we strongly suggest that you make a donation via Campus Groups when registering. Think about how much money you would have spent on wine this weekend that you're now saving by staying at home! Proceeds will go towards TipJar's initiative.
You can read more about the fantastic work they are doing here: https://www.wearetipjar.com/emergency-fund/ ๐
East London Wine School
East London Wine School is an independent wine education company. The tasting will be conducted by the school's owner Samantha Alder, who discovered her passion for wine, whilst managing a successful career in the finance industry. They are an approved Programme Provider of WSET courses; these are globally recognised courses/qualifications, for keen amateurs and professionals who would like to learn in a more structured environment.
Wine and Spirits Club has partnered with the East London Wine School to hold WSET 1 and 2 trainings with student discounts which we hope to resume in the future when all of this quarantining is behind us.
