Private equity is an alternative investment class and consists of capital that is not listed on a public exchange

While private equity has garnered mainstream spotlight only in the last three decades, tactics used in the industry have been honed since the beginning of last century.

Private equity investment comes from institutional and accredited investors, who dedicate substantial sums of money for extended time periods.

The boom years for private equity occurred just before the financial crisis. Global private equity groups raised $2 trillion in the years 2006-2008

[Placeholder] 2026 London VC Trek

This is a placeholder event for the London VC Trek 2026, taking place from 16–20 March. The trek will bring a small, selected group of London Business School students to meet with leading London-based venture capital firms for in-depth discussions, learning, and exposure to the VC ecosystem.
